Pikeville Cut-Through
In the mid-20th century, Pikeville faced devastating floods and limited growth. The Cut-Through, championed by Mayor William C. Hambley, solved these problems with a bold plan to remove nearly 18 million cubic yards of rock and reroute the Levisa Fork River.

Mayor Hambley
William C. Hambley envisioned a better Pikeville. His vision, leadership, and persistence were instrumental in turning the Cut-Through into a reality. Today, his monument at the overlook stands as a tribute to his legacy.
